Unless you won Power Ball, scored a date with Ariana Grande, got five full scholarship offers, or dropped 35 points on 16 shots, chances are you didn't have as good a week as Ky Guerra.
The Stepinac guard morphed into the mad bomber, scoring 89 points in three games as the Crusaders rolled to a convincing 3-0 start.
After developing a quicker release from well beyond the confines of the arc, Guerra not only caught the hot hand--he scored the ball on the full arsenal of dribble-drive penetration, open court finishes, and slithered into tight spaces while launching his 150-pound frame into the bigs, surging to the rim.
Guerra played with the moxie of a man possessed, displaying an engine that propels only rarified scorers.
The 5-foot-11 combination guard announced his presence from the jump against Salesian, shredding them for 20 first half points en route to his game-best 28, inducing a box-and-one throughout the second half.
He torched the nets to the tune of 31 points in the second game--firing from near-NBA range, finishing with a full head of steam, permeating the nooks and crannies of Spellman's defense.
Just when you thought Guerra's streak had hit its apex, just when you figured it was time for him to come back down to earth, the sharpshooter dropped 30 of his team's 53 points against slow-ball Xavier, a team known to force foes out of its comfort zone and induce ugly outings.

Guerra On His Role This Season
My role on this year's Stepinac team is nothing more than being a leader. I'm a senior captain, and I feel the intensity and focus will lead the rest of my teammates in the right direction as well.
I feel Coach (Steve Herman) also expects me to be the main leader for the team and play the point guard role by doing whatever is needed to get done in order to get a win.
On His Improvement
Last year, I was more known as just a shooter. I have developed more aspects of my all-around game, including a tighter handle.
This allows me to score in multiple ways. This kind of start has definitely been fueled by me having the ability to go to the basket way more effectively than last year. It has given me more opportunities to make moves to the basket that will compliment my ability to shoot the ball as well. I have gotten stronger and much quicker with the ball than I was in the past.
On Goals And Expectations
My expectations for this season are definitely to win more games than last year. We have enough talent to make some noise this year. The ultimate goal is to win a city championship. There are a lot of good teams in the league but I hope to be able to make a good playoff run.
I would love to end my career with a successful senior season and for people to remember the 2014-15 Stepinac team as a great team that made a great run.
On His Summer On The Circuit
My most memorable part of AAU season last year was definitely winning a super regional and being able to go to nationals one more time. We were as undersized as most teams that I've played on but I enjoyed playing with some of the better players in Westchester County.
On His Favorite Class At Stepinac
I would say forensics. It just keeps you interested with crime scenes. Overall, it's interesting stuff to look at.
