Stock On The Rise: 2020
Mayson Quartlebaum, Lawrence
The big 6-6 forward has all the tools and intangibles to be a sheer mismatch nightmare. At a strong 6-foot-6, he has an adept quality with his consistent outside shooting. This works in Lawrence's favor as he's able to take bigger rim protectors outside of the paint. He's also a smooth interior cog with his scoring. He recently received a Division-1 offer from Kennesaw State University, which many project to be the first of many. He is also in talks with Stetson and College of Charleston, who have noticed his increase in ferocity and knack for dunking on people and dunking through traffic this summer.
David Perez, Riviera Prep
The Riviera Prep program will go as Perez goes this season. A heady, high academic guard with a knack for knifing his way to the rim and finishing through contact led by example for Miami Triple Threat this summer. He plays with poise, initiating the offense for his teammates and calling his own number when he finds seams and easy scoring opportunities with his driving. With his ability to rebound, distribute and really dissect defenses with his attacking game, expect him to continue to register his imprint on the Division 1 market. A host of Ivy League schools have expressed considerable interest in the all around gamer, whose outside shooting has improved incrementally. Perez, he of the 3.9 GPA and national honor society accolades, is slated to visit Columbia, Stony Brook, NYU, Dartmouth, Boston University and several others during an upcoming road trip.
Patriot league should take notice soon as well.
Kayden Stewart, Scotland Campus
The well built 6-foot Canadian guard was a certifiable defensive pest during the Prep USA national championships in south Carolina last year. With his ability to clamp down and neutralize high scorers, a post grad year will pay dividends for this rarified talent. He's equally noteworthy at scoring from beyond the arc, where he hit pivotal 3-pointers against KOA Prep during a 15 point, seven assist, four steal effort against Mercersburg prep.
