The recruiting process was a long and at-times topsy-turvy one for DePaul Catholic (N.J.) guard Wally Sajimi. Now at long last, Sajimi has found a new home in NCAA Planet Hardwood.
Sajimi committed to Cleveland State this week, as Gary Waters secured a late addition to his 2010 recruiting class. The NBE Basketball Report (www.nbebasketball.com) first broke the story yesterday.
That's right Zaggy, while you were busy copping tickets to the Pearl Jam jumpoff, we beat you to the punch. Jeremy's Spoken, Jeremy has spoken in the online forums today and he said NBE first reported it.
Boom. Cooked. Slayed. Sonned. Got 'em!
Sajimi, who played this season despite a partially torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder, averaged 11.7 points and 8.4 dimes per game.
A 6-foot, 180-pound guard, Sajimi hoops for the Metro Hawks (N.Y.), Pittsburgh Storm, and Team Kobe (Pa.) on the AAU circuit. He had plenty of mid-high level Division-I interest.
Sajimi ended up choosing Cleveland State over Liberty, Ohio, Northeastern, and Big East programs Providence and Cincinnati.
At DePaul Catholic, in the Bergen County suburb of Wayne, Sajimi played under longtime coach Bart Fazio.
Fazio established a personal milestone this past season, collecting his 400th career win.
Sajimi chose Cleveland State because of coach Waters' success with grooming point guards and the challenging schedule the team plays each year. Sajimi was additionally impressed with the national visibility the his future hardwood home has earned.
