Playoff Notebook: A Look At White Plains

For MAHOPAC, consistency and sustaining a lead is a critical factor this post-season.

The 'Pac is slated for a date with White Plains in the first round of the playoffs. On paper and entertainment value-wise, the game should be bigger than the boot the cops put on Delonte West's car.

The Tigers defeated the Indians last year in a signature upset. The win was essentially the high-water mark of their benchmark 2009 campaign.

White Plains is paced by a hot-sticked assassin in senior go-to-guy Ryan McGee.

The St.Joe's-bound attack gashed North Rockland for six goals and two dimes during a 13-5 thrashing last week.

While White Plains has a stallion in four-year starter and hockey player McGee, you can't hit the pillow on senior attack Norman Greenfield.

Greenfield, who grew up playing and learning the intracacies of the game at Soundview Sports, will take his game to Division-III stalwart Dickinson next season.

The Green monster has deposited four goals or more the past three games, and the Tigers have ripped off four straight victories following a May 8 loss to Mamaroneck.

The Tigers lost an important figure in midfielder Michael Trapp, who suffered a season-ending toe injury. Still, they blasted Suffern to the tune of a 16-7 jumpoff and have plenty of firepower to pick themselves up in the absence of the wounded, would-be warrior.

Suffern recently eked out a one-goal win over the 'Pac to conclude the regular season.

The Tigers are certainly a team on the up-and-up, and coach Mark Armogida has altered the perception of the program by selling multi-sport athletes on lacrosse and working relentlessly to help architect the program.
