Expectation Level Raised For Providence

In gaining a verbal commitment from A.J. Reeves, Ed Cooley has raised both the bar and the expectation level for Providence. Reeves, an explosive guard/small forward laced with a wealth of tools, is the nation’s no.49 ranked player in the Class of 2018.

A bouncy, crafty, and hyper-athletic 6-foot-5, 185-pound incoming senior, Reeves picked apart defenses to the tune of 26 points per game this past season.

The Boston native chose Providence following a highly-competitive recruitment process that witnessed him narrow everything down to a quartet of the Friars, Virginia, Louisville, and Villanova.

A four-star recruit possessing a wowing vertical leap and consistent beyond-the-arc game, Reeves is widely regarded as the no.13 ranked small forward in the nation.

With one of the most exhilarating local area products in recent memory headed to Providence, conventional wisdom indicates that highly sought after recruit David Duke could be well on his way.

Duke, a Providence native and Reeves’ tight friend and teammate on Mass Rivals, is considering the Friars alongside a variety of other potential high-major destinations. High expectations and hearsay are beginning to crank up the volume surrounding the Friars’ program.

The hope is that the racket will reverberate to a suddenly-improved Big East in 2017-18.
