Compton and Long Beach Together Now You Know You're In Trouble

"From Long Beach to Venice Is the premise. I smoke the green like spinach. And I'm strong to the finish."-Snoop Dogg

Big ups to Evolution Home Theater, Head/Penn Racquet Sports, and Revv for helping Beach Tennis USA and San Diego Beach Tennis orchestrate a successful event this weekend.

The San Diego Smash saw Donnie "The Golden Bullet" Young and Marty "Kodiak" Salokas capitalize on the hat trick, capturing their third tour win against hometown rivals Joe "The Bronze Bomber" Testa and his first-time partner Billy Lambo.

After a sluggish start, Laura and Lisa Maloney clawed their way back into the championship game. They kept their undefeated streak intact, wiping the beach with Lee Whitewell and Joslyn Burkett.

The Bronze Bomber showed up to the sandsport battle carrying nothing more than water gun, as Salokas-Young stamped their neighborly foes with an 8-4 triumph.

The Maloneys found their touch and showed their resolve, en route to their second straight San Diego Smash victory. The sisters and San Diego natives did it before a strongly partisan crowd.

The titanic twosome looks to continue their frantic pace on a sizzling July 4 weekend. Beach Tennis USA's West Coast swing continues the weekend of July 4-5.

Next Stop?

Long Beach, Calif., as BTUSA sets up shop at Alamitos Beach.

The stage is set for a showdown, with the team of Salokas-Young looking to cash in on their fourth tour title of 2009.

All indications point to the event being a jumpoff at the beach community, which lies on the cusp of Orange County, on the southeast edge.

The site of the event is the southeast corner of Shoreline Drive & Ocean Blvd.
